Art workshop with the Kvarnhags school.

Filed under: Main — Mackanlee @ 12:15 am

Here are some more pictures from when the kids at the Kvarnhags school in Botkyrka came to Valerias and my studio. They got to try on lots of cool clothes and wigs and had their faces painted. Now we are making a big collage with the photos of them that is going to hang in their school.

“We played very intensely this game called Dungeons and Dragons.”

Filed under: Main — Mackanlee @ 8:15 pm

Here Vin Diesel describes how he grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons in the late 70s and early 80s in New York city. When hes talking it’s like he’s describing my life at that time. I could have been saying those exact words if someone asked me how D and D had effected me! The funniest part is when he says that when he worked as a bouncer (“which is the antithesis of dungeons and dragons” LOL)he would on his nights off go home and play D and D. How cool is that!

“What is love?”

Filed under: Main — Mackanlee @ 3:25 pm

This is an old clip from the show “Young Indiana Jones”. It features the young Jones at a dinner party with the intellectual giants Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung and Alfred Adler. All of these men where pioneers of the psychoanalytical movement and they also had quite different views. The funny thing is that here Freud is played by Max Von Sydow and Jung played by Ernst Hugo JäregÃ¥rd and Adler is played by Björn Granath, three classic Swedish old school actors. Pretty cool stuff. Thanks for the link Mikelis.

Back channel talks have already commenced.

Filed under: Main — Mackanlee @ 10:07 am

Okay so everyone is waiting for Obama to make his BIG announcement on how many more troops he will send to Afghanistan. The leaked information says that it will probablly be around 34,000 troops. If this is correct then this number comes close to the 40,000 that general Stanley Mc Chrystal asked for. But it seems like there have been some behind the scenes negotiations going on.

This summer I watched an interview between CNNs war correspondent Michael Ware and the major general of the Pakistani army speak about the possibilty of negotiations with the Afghan Taliban. The Pakistani general said that this was possible and that the Pakistanis could act as moderators setting this up.

Now there is further news about these talks. According to reports in the Pakistani magazine “Dawn” published today these talks have already commenced. Here is a link to the article:

“US in back-channel talks with Afghan Taliban”

Here is an interesting article in “The Christian Science monitor” on the same subject:

“Pakistan to US: Don’t surge in Afghanistan, talk to Taliban”
